What does “psychotherapy” mean?
Psychotherapy is the professional treatment of mental disorders using methods whose effectiveness is scientifically recognized. The aim of psychotherapy is to alleviate or heal mental suffering. In principle, there are many reasons to seek therapeutic support.
1 When should we see a psychotherapist?
- Psychotherapy is indicated if you notice that you feel that your quality of life is permanently impaired. This impairment can manifest itself in persistent negative emotional states or social withdrawal, for example.
- You may also notice that you can no longer cope with certain situations on your own or suffer from physical symptoms with no medical cause.
- If you notice that you are reaching the limits of your personal coping skills, it is advisable to talk to a psychotherapist.
2 Which treatment approaches do we pursue?
In principle, there are several scientifically recognized psychotherapeutic methods.
As licensed psychological psychotherapists with specialist certification in cognitive behavioral therapy and additional qualifications in group therapy and suggestive methods, we work with methods whose effectiveness has been proven in a large number of scientific studies.
Accordingly, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is also recognized by health insurance companies andmost of its costs are generally covered.
3. cognitive behavioral therapy
The assumptions of cognitive behavioral therapy state that, in addition to dispositional factors, learning experiences acquired in life history play a major role in the development and maintenance of mental illnesses. Our perception, behavioral and thought patterns and the associated emotional states are also significantly influenced by previous experiences.
This can lead to problematic patterns of thought and behavior. Together, we want to recognize these patterns and reflect on their origins. The next step will be to change these patterns of thought and behavior for the better.
The therapeutic approach is characterized above all by an action- and solution-oriented approach in the here and now.
In addition to the classic behavioral therapy approaches, we use other proven methods so that we can tailor the therapy to your individual needs. For example, we like to work with imaginative, mindfulness-based and schematherapeutic elements.
Basically, it is very important to us that you feel comfortable and safe in therapy. To ensure this, we attach great importance to a transparent approach and openness on both sides during our work together.
It goes without saying that psychotherapists are bound by medical confidentiality!
